Welcome to my blog, colour your life!
I have now written a couple of blogs on colour, for ourselves and wearing our colour palette. Do you think about the colours you surround yourself with at home, at work, the car you drive?
Colour can be motivating and, but it can also make you feel flat and unmotivated. For instance, as I’m a winter palette I like strong bold clear colours, and this does flow through into my home and work.Do you feel anxious in a yellow room? Does the colour blue make you feel calm and relaxed? Artists and interior designers have long believed that colour can dramatically affect our moods, feelings, and emotions. "Colours, like features, follow the changes of the emotions," the artist Pablo Picasso once remarked.Colour is a powerful communication tool and can be used to signal action, influence mood, and even influence physiological reactions.I love to use colour to create inviting, eye-catching spaces in my home. I like things to flow and look great but also be practical.I have put these images together some are from my own home; others are an inspiration to me. I’m always saving pictures on Instagram to my phone when I see home interior/exterior ideas that inspire me.
Outdoor dining/spaces
Areas around your home don’t always need to be expensive to look great and be inviting. A great indoor-outdoor flow is important. I personally love gardening and landscaping, creating a picturesque garden with areas to relax. It’s also fun in the warmer months to entertain outside. Whether it’s taking the time and effort to coordinate an outdoor dining table or making amazing grazing platters, colour comes into play here as well.
Kitchen/dining
We tend to spend a lot of time in the kitchen/dining preparing food and family meals. The kitchen is often referred to as the heart of the home. I have glass-fronted storage cupboards in my kitchen, in these cupboards are items we use every day since earthquakes I don’t see any reason to keep things for good and not use them. What is the worst that can happen? We break something and will have to replace it. I like things colour coordinated, we have quite a large home with big rooms so it can take some colour. Some areas I have more colour than others but it all flows.
